Twee Death

Join us on Thursday, May 3rd, 2012, for a special event at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre Star Theatre, a.k.a. the Planetarium, featuring three of our favourite artists + including the first Vancouver appearance by Pendle Hill's finest sons, DEMDIKE STARE. Yep, for real: we'll have the Manchester/Berlin-based Modern Love recording artists offering up some potent, bone-chilling sonic witchcraft; transcendental soundtracks to their carefully curated visuals, all wrapped up under a blanket of stars covering the domed ceiling screen of the Planetarium.

As if that weren't enough, THE SIGHT BELOW (Ghostly International/USA) will be joining Demdike Stare, on a killer bill rounded out by Spectrum Spools/Editions Mego recording artist No UFO's. Visuals from each performer will be paired with in-house astral projections.

Seriously, probably the coolest show that will roll through Vancouver this year. Capacity is limited and the very occasional live performances held at the Planetarium tend to sell out. We recommend planning ahead (while supporting one of our favourite local record stores) by purchasing advance tickets, available now at Red Cat, Zulu, Dandelion, Neptoon, and Beat Street Records.

Next up, we're pairing up with the Waldorf Hotel in a co-presentation of Sacred Bones recording artists from New York, AMEN DUNES, with a special guest from Portland, ILYAS AHMED. Ilyas was actually slated to play the first Twee Death show ever, with Grouper at Hoko's Sushi + he plays with Liz from Grouper in a duo called Visitor. Anyway, we're very pleased to finally see him make it up here! Vancouver's WHITE POPPY will also be playing + if you haven't heard her new tape on Not Not Fun yet, seek it out.
